Sony has not been successful with the PlayStation 5 console for many years. The company, which had stock problems and failed to meet expectations in next-generation games, reached a new milestone in Japan. It was stated that sales exceeded 6 million during the period when PlayStation 5 prices were raised.
PlayStation 5 sales exceeded 6 million in Japan
The PlayStation 5 has achieved a new sales success in Japan, surpassing 6 million units. This success was achieved despite a price hike for both the console and its accessories in September.
According to reports from Japan, more than 33,000 PS5s were sold in the week before the price increase. While the price change is likely to impact sales in the near term, the PS5 is expected to continue its long-term sales success in Japan.
Nintendo still has the biggest share of the Japanese gaming market. The PS5 has managed to strengthen its position over the years. Sony aims to further increase sales with console-exclusive games and new models such as PS5 Pro.
Codenamed “Trinity”, the PS5 Pro is rumored to feature a much more powerful GPU and faster CPU compared to the base console. The device is said to have 28 percent faster memory running at 576GB/s bandwidth.
PS5 Pro pricing details were also leaked. According to this, the console will have two versions, disk and digital, similar to the PS5. The PlayStation 5 Pro disk version will be priced at $700 and the digital version at $600.
